A town, not just a terminal
Keep the first hour simple. Leave your bags where arranged, find the centre and walk the waterfront before planning a circuit of the island. The ferry arrival is a working part of the town, so leave space for vehicles and pedestrians. A café stop is also a useful moment to check the onward bus or transfer rather than relying on an old timetable screenshot.
Look for the cultural layer
The parish church and the streets around it give the centre its shape. Supetar’s connection with sculptor Ivan Rendić adds a reason to look closely rather than simply pass through; the tourist board publishes a cultural route dedicated to him. Follow the current route information and treat churches and the cemetery as places of worship and remembrance, not merely photo opportunities.
Make the base work for you
Supetar is our practical starting point for a short, relatively straightforward island stay. It can also work well without a car when your priorities are local walks and nearby beaches. That does not make every inland village or southern cove easy to reach. Check the distance, gradient and beach surface around the exact property. Travelling with small children or limited mobility calls for address-level questions, not a general claim that the whole town is accessible.
An inland day, without overfilling it
Škrip is a natural cultural contrast to a waterfront stay, with the island museum and olive-oil history. Arrange your transport and opening times together. Combining that visit with one coastal stop can be more rewarding than a day spent driving between names on a map. Keep the final day close to your departure port; a last swim should not become a missed connection.
