Arrive at the right port

Jadrolinija operates the Split–Supetar and Makarska–Sumartin vehicle-ferry routes. They arrive at different parts of Brač. Compare the complete journey to your accommodation, not just the crossing. For Bol, passenger-catamaran options depend on operator and season; consult the current operator pages. Do not assume that a service listed for summer runs on your travel date, or that a passenger vessel carries cars.

Check what your ticket guarantees

Booking and boarding rules differ between routes. Confirm vehicle requirements, reservation conditions and when to arrive directly with the operator. Leave a sensible margin between a flight, a mainland transfer and a sailing. The reverse journey needs the same care: the last island connection is a poor place to gamble on an onward flight. Weather and operational changes remain possible even with a ticket.

A car is useful, not compulsory

For a holiday centred on one town and nearby beaches, a car may be unnecessary. For inland villages, dispersed accommodation or multiple parts of the island, having one can simplify the stay. Confirm parking at the property and ask about the final access road. Without a car, arrange the last-mile transfer before arrival and check current bus services directly. Brač Airport has its own seasonal flight arrangements; use the airport’s current information.

Choose the season for the holiday

For walking and cultural visits, consider the shoulder season and check what is open. For a swimming-led stay, allow for heat, busy arrivals and advance booking in the main summer period. Autumn is not a guarantee of summer sea conditions, and winter is not summer without crowds: services can be reduced. Choose for the actual month, not a generic promise of year-round perfection.

Ask the questions that prevent surprises

Before confirming accommodation, ask about steps, steep approaches, air conditioning, parking, beach distance and cancellation terms. For specific access needs, request measurements or photographs rather than accepting “suitable for everyone”. Keep operator contacts and key booking details available offline. Check current weather and any fire-related restrictions before outdoor activity. Small practical questions are not the opposite of a beautiful holiday; they protect it.
